fa ice (in-plane coupling element)


PRODUCT OVERVIEW

FA-ICE is a low profile in-plane optical I/O solution to launch light into grating couplers or receive light from an on chip optical component. This element is based off of a standard fiber array construction that has a custom dual angle polish. The primary angle turns the beam to a vertical launch and the secondary angle reduces the fiber clad above the core.


SPECIFICATIONS

  • Material: Quartz, Borosilicate

  • Fiber: SM, PM, MFD conversion fiber, MM

  • Channel: 1, 2, 4, 8,16, or 32

  • Fiber Spacings: 127µm, 250µm, 254µm

  • Unit Size: V-base thickness 1.5mm, Lid thickness 0.2mm or No lid

  • Primary reflector angle is polished to meet the desired launch into Grating Coupler or other optical port.

  • Optional Secondary: 4-8° angle

  • PM-ER: >18dB

  • Stress Rod Orientation: (Horizontal ± 3°, standard or  ± 1° available)

  • Connector: FC/PC, FC/APC, MT/APC, LC/APC

  • Element Loss: < 0.75dB

  • Reflecting Options: Total internal reflection or mirrored coating

  • Output Launch Angle:  0-15°
