OUR TEAM

Tadashi Miyashita
President

Tadashi has spent 40+ years in the optics industry as an engineer at NTT developing PM Panda fiber and identifying the C-band, as President of PIRI commercializing planar lightwave circuit technology, and as a consultant to PLC Connections LLC. He brings with him a deep understanding of waveguide optics, PLC technology, and PM fiber expertise.

Michael O’Brian
Chief Operating Officer

In addition to co-founding PLC Connections LLC in 2004, Michael (Mike) was also an engineer at PIRI playing key roles in the development of techniques for fiber bonding to optical circuits, PLC chip polishing, and reliability testing of optical components. His expertise with PLC chip polishing and bonding will be invaluable to PLC Connections.

Michael Schumacher
Senior Engineer

Mike has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and over 25 years of experience in the fiber optics industry working for Photonic Integration Research, Inc. (PIRI), SDL, Inc., JDS Uniphase Corp., NeoPhotonics Corp., and now with PLC Connections. His work is focused on the areas of design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing of planar waveguide devices. In particular, Mike specializes in the design of equipment for fiber pigtailing of PLCs and chip and module characterization, including characterization of splitters, AWGs, VOAs, and other devices. More recently at PLC Connections, he has worked on silicon photonics device pigtailing and specialty fiber array design.
